StyleSwipe uses cookies for: session management (keeping you logged in), preference storage (your filter and sort settings), analytics (understanding how users interact with our app), security (protecting against CSRF attacks), and affiliate tracking (recording qualifying purchases made through product links on our site so we can receive a commission from the retailer).
3. Types of Cookies We Use
Essential cookies: required for authentication and security — these cannot be disabled. Analytics cookies: help us understand usage patterns using privacy-respecting tools. Preference cookies: remember your settings between sessions. Affiliate tracking cookies: set by our affiliate network partner (OfferForge) and the retailer when you click a product link — these record whether a qualifying purchase was made so we can receive commission.
4. Third-Party Cookies
We use Supabase for authentication, which sets secure session cookies. If you sign in with Google, Google may set cookies subject to their own Privacy Policy. We participate in the OfferForge affiliate network (operated by Forge Advertising (Pty) Ltd). When you click a retail product link on StyleSwipe, OfferForge's tracking technology places a cookie on the retailer's website to record any resulting purchase and attribute commission to StyleSwipe. These affiliate tracking cookies are governed by OfferForge's Privacy Notice at www.offerforge.co.za/privacy and the relevant retailer's own cookie policy. StyleSwipe does not receive any personal information about you from these cookies — only confirmation that a qualifying transaction occurred.
5. Managing Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies will prevent you from logging in. Blocking affiliate tracking cookies will not affect your ability to use StyleSwipe, but means we will not receive commission on purchases you make through our links. Most browsers allow you to view, block, and delete cookies through the Settings or Preferences menu. You can also use browser extensions such as uBlock Origin to block third-party tracking cookies selectively.
6. Cookie Retention
Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent preference cookies expire after 12 months. Authentication cookies expire after 7 days of inactivity. Affiliate tracking cookies set by OfferForge and retailers typically expire after 30 days, in accordance with the relevant advertiser's program terms.
