Privacy Policy

Information you provide: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (hashed). You may optionally provide a profile photo and style preferences.

Images you upload: Clothing photographs and wardrobe images you choose to upload are stored securely in our cloud infrastructure and used to power your personalised recommendations.

Usage data: We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including swipe actions, viewed products, and session data, to improve recommendation quality.

Device information: We may collect device type, operating system, browser type, and IP address for security and analytics purposes.

We use your information to: (a) provide, maintain, and improve the Service; (b) personalise your fashion recommendations using AI; (c) communicate with you about your account and the Service; (d) detect and prevent fraud and abuse; (e) comply with legal obligations under POPIA and other applicable South African law.

We process your personal information only where we have a lawful basis to do so, including your consent, the performance of a contract with you, or our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service.

Clothing images you upload are processed by our AI systems to extract style attributes (colour, pattern, garment type, aesthetic). This processing occurs on secure servers and the extracted attributes are used solely to generate personalised recommendations for you.

We use third-party AI services to assist with image analysis. These providers are bound by data processing agreements that require them to process your data only as instructed and in compliance with applicable law.

You may delete your uploaded images at any time through your account settings. Upon deletion, images are permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share your information with: (a) retail partners, but only in aggregate, anonymised form to improve product recommendations; (b) service providers who assist us in operating the Service (cloud hosting, analytics, email delivery), bound by confidentiality obligations; (c) law enforcement or regulatory authorities where required by South African law.

As a South African company, StyleSwipe processes personal information in accordance with the conditions for lawful processing set out in POPIA. These conditions include: accountability, processing limitation, purpose specification, further processing limitation, information quality, openness, security safeguards, and data subject participation.

You have the right to: access your personal information held by us; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention obligations); object to the processing of your personal information; and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 90 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records) or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention).

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security assessments.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required by POPIA.

We use essential cookies to enable core Service functionality (authentication, session management) and analytics cookies to understand how users interact with the Service. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Our analytics are privacy-focused and do not share your data with advertising networks.

The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
